Lover stabs 24 old girl to death

A 24-year-old girl, Miss Tosin Alabi, has reportedly been stabbed to death by her male partner over some unsolved issues. Tosin, an apprentice in a computer institute was stabbed by her boy friend(name withheld at a popular hotel in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State,   a couple of days ago. Reasons why Tosin's lover decided to kill her girlfriend were unknown, but it was gathered that the two friends had gone to the hotel to cool off, but the male friend refused to fulfill the promise made to the deceased.   According to the elder brother to the deceased, Elder Owolabi Paul, in Ado-Ekiti,   the incident occurred on Saturday, March 24, at a popular hotel in the town. He said, “on Sunday, March 25, a friend of Toyin called us to inform us that she was stabbed to death with broken bottle at Festmag Hotel in Ado-Ekiti and that we should go to the State Teaching Hospital to see her corpse in the hospital’s morgue. Aero Contractors airlines resumes flight operations

Aero Contractors Airlines, Friday,   resumed its flight operations across the country after two weeks of suspending its operations due to the crisis between the management and staffs of the airline over poor welfare packages. Afenifere canvasess amnesty for Boko Haram members

Yoruba socio-cultural  movement-Afenifere Renewal Group has faulted President   Goodluck Jonathan for not engaging members of Islamic sect group, Boko- Haram in dialogue, saying that the president ought to have granted amnesty to members of the group. Court sentenced man to death for his housemate

An Ekiti High Court sitting in Ado, has sentenced to death by hanging,   one Mallam  Usman Sule for allegedly killed his his housemate, Mallam Mohammed Sheu at Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state The two neighbours, who are from Sokoto State, were said to have  engaged each other in a minor scuffle about a year ago until it degenerated into a serious fight, which   led to the death of one of Sheu. Trial judge, in judgment, Justice John Adeyeye, said he was convinced that the accused person was responsible for the death of his house mate based on the preponderance of evidence before him. Kidnapped Bayelsa commissioner's mum escapes from kidnappers den

The 68 year old Madam Comfort Dugo, mother of the Bayelsa Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Mr. James Dugo, who was kidnapped Tuesday night by armed gunmen has reportedly escaped from captivity. It was gather that the victim who was seized from her Odi residence in the Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state by armed gunmen was being kept in the dense forest between Odi and Sagbama, when she miraculously escaped from her captors hideout 24 hours after her abduction at 10pm. Works minister inaugurates construction of two major roads in Abia

Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen,   has inaugurated the construction of the 37-kilometre Nkporo-Abiriba-Ohafia road in Abia to Osso Eda in Ebonyi, abandoned for more than 150 years. The minister was represented at the occasion by the South-East Zonal Controller of Works, Mr Godwin Eghieye, at the boundary between Abia and Ebonyi, venue of the event. While speaking, Onolememe assured that the project would be completed by the middle of 2014, adding that it would promote communication among the communities in the area. The minister, who also inaugurated the 32-kilometre Ohafia-Arochukwu road in Abia, further expressed optimism that it would would promote commerce and the economic well-being of the people. ``I urge the Abia government and the people to co-operate with the contractors handling the project to ensure a timely completion,’’ he said. In his speech, the Governor of Abia, Chief Theodore Orji, thanked the Federal Government for embarking on the project.
