Glo rolls out new Mifi, router with free 180GB data

Senate passes Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Bill

*Nigerian senate (Nigeria) The Senate on Wednesday passed the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Bill 2022. The passage of the bill followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Aviation. Chairman of the Committee, Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West), in his presentation, said the bill seeks to repeal Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Act 2010 for the purposes of providing effective air navigation services in Nigeria. He added that the NAMA bill is one of the six Aviation Executive Bills referred to the Committee by the Senate which are related to crucial matters of regulation, training, management, and safety of the Aviation Industry. “The issues that surround the Bill are significant in ensuring safe air travels and are part of efforts at enhancing the health and profitability of the overarching aviation sector and public benefit,” he said. He observed that the Act establishing NAMA came into effect on May 26, 1999, and has been in operation for twenty-two years.

SMEs: Ugwuanyi empowers Enugu youths through Cyber Security training

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on SMEs Development and Director General, Enugu SMEs Centre, Arinze Chilo-Offiah, said the centre is partnering with CyberSafe Foundation and Ping CyberTalent to organize the programme.  Chilo-Offiah disclosed that the ICT-driven initiative was championed by Governor Ugwuanyi to help tackle the issues of cybercrime and youth unemployment in the state. Recall that Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration through the Enugu SMEs Centre recently trained additional 500 youths in Programming and Product Design, and has commenced the processes for training another set of 500 young people as part of its concerted efforts to create employment opportunities for about 5,000 youths

Senate receives Buhari’s request to confirm NCC, FJSC nominees

*NCC corporate head office in Abuja (Nigeria) The Senate on Tuesday received a request to confirm the nomination of Professor Mansur Auwalu Bindawa as Non-Executive Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission. The request was contained in a letter dated January 10, 2022, and read on the floor by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary. President Buhari in the letter explained that the request was made pursuant to the provision of Section 8(1) of the Nigerian Communications Act. In another letter date January 4, 2022, President Buhari requested the chamber to confirm the nominations of Nnamonso Ekanem (Akwa-Ibom) and Mahmud Magaji (Niger) as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission. Ekanem and Magaji are expected to represent the South-South and North-Central zones, respectively. Youth Minister wants more youth trained in Digital skills

*Nigerian Senate (Nigeria) The Senate on Wednesday said that the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has established a centre for artificial intelligence and robotics to deploy the use of robots and artificial intelligence in combating crime and criminality in Nigeria. The revelation came to the fore when the upper chamber considered a report on ‘the spate of growing insecurity in Nigeria’ by the Joint Committee on Legislative Compliance and Communications during plenary.
