Glo rolls out new Mifi, router with free 180GB data

(Nigeria) Old and new subscribers to telecoms service provider, Globacom, will benefit from a new MiFi and Router offer which connects up-to 32 Wi-Fi-enabled devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs and game consoles at once. The offer gives subscribers FREE 60GB and 180 GB data upon purchase and activation of a MiFi and Router respectively

According to the company, the devices ensure faster downloads, faster music and movie streaming, faster gaming experience and seamless video calls on various smart devices can be used by Students, corporate employees, small and medium scale businesses or by individual subscribers on the go seamlessly.

“Nigerians can purchase the devices from any of our Gloworld one-stop shops or partner outlets.  All they need to do is insert a registered Glo SIM into the MiFi or Router device to access the free 60GB and 180 GB once the device is switched on”, Globacom stated in a press release on Wednesday.

The company added that the new offer was introduced to give its esteemed customers unprecedented value for money and a delightful browsing experience on its reliable and super-fast Glo 4G LTE network.

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
