Oil pipeline surveillance contract: Group assures Tompolo will deliver
The group maintained that Tompolo is in the
best position to execute the pipelines surveillance contract awarded by the
Federal Government noting that he had carried out successfully similar exercise
in the past during the Ex- President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
CND, in a communique on Monday, at
the end of an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt in Rivers State, by
it's National President Tamarapreye Tareware and National Secretary, Prince Meshach Bebenimibo
noted that the Federal Government's decision to award the contract to Tompolo
was not misplaced.

The group commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari and Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Timipre Silva for the renewed effort to protect the Pipelines in the region through the participation of locals in the region.
It noted that Tompolo has done enough for keeping the peace in the Niger Delta by using
his God given wisdom to curb negative devices in the Niger Delta.
CND, however, decried the recent outbursts of
Arewa youth group opposing the involvement of Niger Deltan youths in protecting
government's national assets in the region noting that if they had done similar
thing the north wouldn't have faced the insecurity in their region.
"It is disheartening for the Arewa
youth group addressing journalists during their protest. We recall the
spokesman of AAYG, Victor Duniya, saying We are here to register our
displeasure over the newly awarded contract. The implication of the awarded
contract is that, a private citizen like Tompolo will be allowed to handle not
just light but sophisticated weapons to be able to ward off possible attacks
from the vicious oil bunkering cartel", it recalled.
CND however maintained that Tompolo hate
bunkering activities in the Niger Delta because of the health implications and
destruction of aquatic lives.
CND declared total support for the Federal
Government's action, assuring of Tompolo’s capacity to help save the country
billions of naira being lost through oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
“Tompolo has worked tirelessly for the
peace in Niger Delta and will continue to sustain and protect the wealth of the
nation in collaboration with other stakeholders. We must commend Federal Government
for doing the right thing by given the protection of vital nation’s wealth to
our leaders", it assured.
CND said Tompolo would not be distracted by
AAYG comments, adding: “It is so disgraceful, shameful and very unfortunate
that this group has got nothing to offer, rather than being obsessed with our
most respected leader, Tompolo, who has given it all for the peace, development
and unity of Nigeria.
The group warned AAYG to be careful with
its hate and smear campaigns about it's respected leader, Tompolo who it said
had sacrificed a lot for the peace, unity and oneness of Nigeria adding
"We will not sit and watch clowns drag his name into the mud.”
Urging our brothers in Rivers State
and others to shun divisive tackles aimed at poisoning the minds of Niger Delta
youths against Tompolo, CND assured that nobody will be left out as other
tribes including the Ijaws, Urhobos, Isoko, Ikweres, Ibos, Hannans, Ibibios and
others across the Niger Delta will be involved in the process.
