*Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, convicted for money laundering (Nigeria) Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North in the National Assembly,who has been on the run months after the Court of Appeal Lagos Division convicted and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment for money laundering, is finally in prison custody.  Nwaoboshi , who was intercepted by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at a Hospital in Lagos on Monday, February 6, was finally remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre today, February 8, 2023, to commence his prison term. The Court of Appeal had in a judgment it delivered on July 1, 2022, sentenced him to prison after it convicted him on a two-count charge of money laundering and also ordered the winding up of his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd, in line with the provision of Section 22 of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2021, and their properties forfeited to the Federal Government. SERAP takes Buhari govt to ECOWAS Court over illegal pipelines, oil theft

(Nigeria) Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project , SERAP , has filed a s uit against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over “the failure to probe the operations of illegal oil pipelines between 2001 and 2022, to name and prosecute those suspected to be involved, and to recover proceeds of crime.” The suit was filed by SERAP, Chief Eric Dooh, (who is suing for himself as a leader of the Goi Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, and on behalf of the Goi Community), and 15 other concerned Nigerians. The suit followed recent reports of the discovery of at least 58 illegal oil pipelines used to steal the country’s oil wealth. The stealing is reportedly carried out through the illicit pipeline connected to the trunk line via an abandoned pipeline, and linked to a location in the high sea, where they load crude oil into vessels and sell overseas. (Nigeria) A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday ordered the branch head of Providus Bank Plc, Mariam Isoje, to appear before the court to take her plea on alleged N144 million fraud. Justice Yellim Bogoro made the order sequel to an application of a prosecutor, Mr. Henry Obiaze, to the   court that the Providus Bank Plc's manager, Mariam, has been flagrantly refusing to appear before the court to take her plea, since that charge was file against her. 600 killed in 10 months, as another massacre looms in S’East ---Intersociety
