(Nigeria) A Lagos based activist, O.S.
Umukoro, has charged the management of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited NEPL, Shoreline Natural
Resources Limited, Heritage Energy Operational Sevices Limited and Community
Development Board, CDB led by Chief Idu Amadhe to uphold the fact that contracts and
pipeline surveillance job in OML30 was not an inheritance for any individual.
The activist called on
Federal Government and security agencies to monitor and apprehend any persons
attempting to ferment trouble in OML30 over the pipeline surveillance job,
adding that no individual has the right to lay claim to any job in OML30.
Umukoro, an indigene of Kokori community,
Cluster 4, in OML30, Delta State, yesterday,
said, indigenes from oil producing community in OML30, have equal rights
to be awarded contracts, including
the pipeline surveillance job.
"We are aware that the pipeline
surveillance job had expired and been terminated. The Joint Venture Partners
NNPC Exploration and Production Limited NEPL, Shoreline Natural Resources
Limited, Heritage Energy Operational Sevices Limited (operator) and Community
Development Board CDB led by Chief Amadhe, have the right to award the
surveillance job to any other new indigenous contractor in OML30.
" he former contractor that handled
the pipeline surveillance job must embrace the fact that it is not an
inheritance. The former contractor had the opportunity and should allow others
to enjoy same opportunity."
He urged the traditional rulers and
community leaders in OML30, not to allow the greed and selfishness of any individuals
to cause chaos and breached of peace in OML30.
"The new CDB ably led by Chief Amadhe Idu
has come to stay because it was legally and officially constituted. We advice members of the new CDB to reject
bribe from any corrupt individuals plotting to disrupt the operation of CDB.
" The Urhobo and Isoko Traditional
Rulers and community leaders backed Chief Idu as new Chairman of CDB. They
should call for immediate conduct of an audit on the eight years financial
records of CDB's activities in OML30.
"We are aware that the last CDB led by
Morris Idiovwa had handed over to the new CDB led by Idu. So, the
proper thing to do is to conduct an audit on the financial records of the past
CDB by the Joint Venture Partners, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited
NEPL, Shoreline Natural Resources Limited, Heritage Energy Operational Sevices
Limited and new CDB," he said.
