Agwarive emerges Chairman of Urhobo HOSTCOM


(Nigeria) Social activist, Pender Agwarive has been elected Chairman of Urhobo Ethnic Nationality chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOSTCOM, Delta State.

His election and executive members was rectified at the annual general meeting of Urhobo HOSTCOM in Ughelli, Delta State.

Outgone Chairman, Chief Moses Erhabor, and Secretary, Mr. Benson Ogbolo, in a statement, yesterday, confirmed Agwarive's emergence and congratulated him and executive members with an  appeal to the Urhobo host communities and relevant government agencies to offer the needed supports and cooperation to the Agwarive-led executive.

The statement said the new Chairman, Agwarive, is an indigene of Owevwe oil and gas producing community in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.

At the AGM, Urhobo HOSTCOM resolved to sensitise the various leadership of oil and gas producing communities in Urhobo land on the need to work closely with Urhobo Traditional Rulers and leadership of HOSTCOM for the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA, for the overall benefits of the host communities.

It will be recalled that the outgone, Chairman, Erhobor was appointed on interim capacity to complete the tenure of Mr. Andrew Agoyo, which finally elapsed on August 29, 2022.
