AMNESTY PHASE 3: Ex-agitators withdraw threat to shut oil facilities

(Nigeria) The Niger Delta United Group of Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Phase 3 Ex Agitators, has called off their planed protest and plan to close down oil facilities in the Niger Delta region after PAP officials and other relevant agencies of government brokered a truce with them in Abuja.

The aggrieved PAP Phase 3 x-agitators called off the planed protest after reaching an agreement, which they hope to further fine-tune in the interest of all parties.

A statement  by General Joseph Jericho, Chairman, General Timibra Gabriel, Vice Chairman and General Ivwromon Ogaga, Secretary,  reads: "After due deliberations with the officials of PAP through the Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Department of the Amnesty Office in Abuja on August  8 and 9, 2022, we, hereby, declare unilaterally that  the planed protest, which was earlier slated to commence on August 10, 2022, is hereby, called off in the interest of the country’s  economy and to maintain the prevailing peace in the oil bearing Niger Delta region.

"Indeed, in our 12 points demand in which we made ourselves very clear, the fence mending olive team of PAP had promised to look at the issues we presented to the Amnesty Office in Abuja within a short time.

"The planed protest was actually due to the agitations of our camp boys, who have been exacting so much pressure on us since 2013 till date for them to be documented, trained and empowered and included in the list of those receiving camp allowance.

“We engaged in a two days peaceful meeting with the PAP Office in Abuja and we are convinced that the PAP management in the light of the new development will implement the accord reached, hence, we are calling on all phase three leaders and their camp boys to stay calm.

“We also thank the interim administrator, Col Milland Dikio (red), Alfred Kemepado, Bestman Peace Building and other security agencies for listening to our germane request.

"The interim administrator has done well in the prompt payment of our monthly stipends and we hope he will get the grey areas ironed out in the interest of all, especially as it concerns the issue of accommodating our camp boys  and to engage us the leaders meaningfully as discussed in Abuja."
