(Nigeria) Edo State Deputy  Governor, Philip Shaibu has said that the Godswill Obaseki led administration will continue to implement policies to support, Medium, Small and Macro Enterprises,  MSME in the state in an effort to grow the economy.

During an engagement forum between leaders of Edo North and Edo Jobs in Jattu, Shaibu explained that the reason the Nigerian Economy has continued to rely on services from foreign countries is the collapse of Medium, Small and Macro Enterprises which are supposed to service the big companies.

He charged stakeholders to enlighten their subjects not to rely on white collar jobs, but invest in hand work and offer services to the people.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that Edo jobs was conceived to provide skills to the people, provide starter packs and match individuals with available jobs.

He charged the youths to make themselves available for the opportunities provided by Edo Jobs to become entrepreneurs and stop waiting for government jobs.

"To build back the trust of the people, we have decided that we must tell the people the truth at all times no matter how hard the situation is.

We also decided to strengthen our institutions, as we have noticed that the strong individuals in the society are consistently trying to twist the system to favour a few individuals".

According to Shsibu, "those that believe that  their state can sustain itself are always thinking how to  diversify their economy and those states can come learn from us in Edo.

The problem with Nigeria is that we have big companies, and we don't have small supporting companies for these big ones. That is why we still depend on foreign economies to sustain and service our industries.

“We in Edo will continue to encourage small businesses to survive.”
