Group commends Ogun Assembly for moves to resolve land dispute

(Nigeria) Ogun State Development Support Group, OSDG, has commended the state House of Assembly for mediating in a land dispute involving a popular estate agent, Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye and some Community Development Associations within Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

The group in a statement by Richard Ogundina, its spokesperson also applauded Alhaji Owoeye for honouring Assembly’s invitation following a petition written to the House by the community.

The statement added that for any government to make significant impacts, the legislative arm of government especially must be alert to the needs and yearning of the people.

The statement observed that Owoeye on his own appeared before the state House of Assembly to clarify issues that were raised against him, describing his attitude as a mark of a responsible citizen.

Meanwhile, Owoeye who appeared before the Ogun State House of Assembly, described the meeting as cordial, adding that he had nothing to hide and would continue to make himself available to clarify any issues that may require his attention.

He said the meeting with the members of the House was to curb unlawful activities of land grabbers in the state and give people legal rights over their property.

According to Owoeye, members of the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Speaker, Prince Olakunle  Oluomo were men and women of integrity, saying “We are all living witnesses to ongoing monumental achievements and how they have been turning Ogun into a prosperous State.

“Members of the Assembly under the leadership of Oluomo have prioritized the interest of the people and development of the state above their individual or political parties’ interest by attending to the needs of people.

“It is a popular but erroneous belief that legislative and executive should be adversaries. Lots of developments are often achieved when both the executive and the legislative arms cooperate and work hand-in-hand for the collective good of the people.

“This is exactly what the Ogun State Assembly lawmakers are doing since the inception of their tenure and the people are seeing the result in the commitment of the government to improve the security of lives and infrastructural development in the state.”

He commended the Speaker for his belief in the development and prosperity of the state, stressing that the activities of the Assembly have been such that have helped the state to maintain its enviable position in Nigeria.

He said he had no reservation about the invitation extended to him adding that he has absolute trust in the integrity of the members of the Assembly.

Owoeye however urged the lawmakers to avoid distraction, remain united, peaceful and sacrifice their political differences for the sake of a better life they promised their constituents.

Owoeye also applauded the cordiality and cooperation in the relationship between the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun led state executive and legislature, under the leadership of Prince Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo in the few years, saying the Assembly has prioritized the interest of the people.”
