Onions blockage: Southeast will quash Northern conspiracies --Ohanaeze Ndigbo
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary-General, Mazi okechukwu Isiguzoro
in a statement on Thursday, said: “We have observed that there is a
considerable collaboration between all the onslaughts witnessed in the
southeast which is tracked down to a vicious conglomerate from the North, with
the sole pursuit of unleashing chaos to southeastern Nigeria, but " Igbos
will surely be victorious against all the northern conspiracies".
“Specific reports reinforced our suspicions that there are craftily designed conspiracies against the Southeast by the North, how do we reconcile the vituperative rhetoric of Chief Audu Ogbeh, National Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, calling the shots that "Northerners should vacate from the southeast?”
“And the warning to deal with the southeast with another
civil war experience by President Muhammadu Buhari? Or is it the constant menaces
of Meyitti Allah to forcefully occupy our lands and forests?, how can Minister
of Justice, Mr Malami relate to the nefarious activities of killer herdsmen to
the peaceful Igbo spare parts dealers in the North? Or the repeated episodes of
sabotage to cut off supplies of onions from the southeast after a recent
showdown was resolved by Kogi Governor, but all of these conspiracy theories
were incubated against Igbos for political and economic purposes, which is the
handiwork of the cartel driving the policies of this regime.
“We applaud the synergies between the middle belt and
southern Nigeria folks and together we will survive all these insecurity
challenges and come out of them stronger than ever.
“Those behind the sabotage to cut off onions supply to the
southeast are penalizing poor northern farmers and we will not instigate palm
oil producers to sabotage the supply to the North, two wrongs can't make it
right, all the provocative actions against the southeast is a wake-up call for
the Igbos,” he added.
