We must unite to challenge our non-inclusion --- PDP National Woman Leader

(Nigeria) Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Woman Leader, Hajiya Mariya Waziri, has said despite “Our socio-cultural and political differences, we must unite to challenge our non-inclusion in a space where we are known to offer the greatest contributions and sacrifices.”

Waziri in a statement to mark the International Women’s Day, said on Monday, “As we celebrate this special call to action against gender bias and inequality globally, I urge us all to look inwards, knowing that our greatest challenge remain local and engraved in our immediate environs.

“Nigerian women have retrogressed more than ever in the past five years, however,  our resilience has kept us pushing for a better Nigeria for all women.

“Nonetheless, despite our socio-cultural and political differences, we must unite to challenge our non-inclusion in a space where we are known to offer the greatest contributions and sacrifices. Undoubtedly, gender bias and inequality continue to hinder our advancement individually and collectively as such, should be tackled as a common impediment to our collective goals.

“This call to challenge the status quo empowers us with the unity of purpose required to suppress the inequality and gender bias prevalent in our society.

“Despite our travails, we must not fail to celebrate our successes and resilience in pushing for a more inclusive and gender friendly space. Let us embrace this day as a symbol of our tireless and unwavering commitment to advance our cause by consistently standing against all forms of violation of women’s rights.

“It is my belief, that we shall return to better days in the near future, if we unite in our push for an end to gender bias and inequality at all levels. Again, happy international women’s day to us all.”
