*Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State
(Nigeria) Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on
Women Mobilisation, Chief Odjuvwumiderhi Majemite, has empowered
widows with several food stuff and money as part of her gift for Easter
celebration.
Majemite gave out the
items in her Abraka residence, Ethiope
East Local Government Area of the state to celebrate the women/widows for
their re-election of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in the recently concluded governorship
election. She also hosted ward chairmen
of the party in the council.
Addressing the women,
ward chairmen and youth leaders of the party, she said “In time like this, while
we celebrate the risen Christ, it is imperative to show love to the downtrodden
and widows.”
She said she has always stood for the growth of Urhobo and
Ethiope East, commending the women for the part they played during the
elections, saying that this is the beginning of their victory and that they
will continue to celebrate victory as long as they will continue to succeed.
Majemite said, "Before the governorship election as an
SSA to the Governor on Women Development, I have been having series of meeting
with the women on how we can deliver our governor, Sen. Okowa and by the
special grace of God they all went back to their different units and wards and
came out victorious and that is what we are celebrating.
“I was appointed close to the period of the elections and
now that the elections had come and gone, but it will be unfair if l don’t show
my appreciation to you all for standing firm to deliver our amiable governor,
the working governor, whose work has manifested through the votes Deltans had
given to him.
“During the elections after l have voted,I visited most of
the units and wards and I saw that majority of the voters are women, so I
commend the women so much and I equally use this medium to commend all the
wards chairmen, youth leaders and women leaders for the support given to the
governor.
"As part of the victory celebration, I have also given
the widows rice to take home and also added money to cook it so that they can
enjoy with their children at home and I also gave the women leaders same too,
they have done well and you do not need to wait for the governor before you
appreciate people for the good things they have done.”
