Membership registration website, apcregistration.com is fake ----APC

(Nigeria) The All Progressives Congress, APC, has described a registration portal apcregistration.com, as fake, saying that it was not authorised by the leadership of the party, hence is a scam.
APC acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yekini Nabena in a statement on Sunday, said “We alert our supporters, members and indeed the general public to a purported membership registration website of the APC, apcregistration.com.  
“The website which is trending on social media is unauthorised and a scam.
“Our internal investigation has revealed that the fake website is sponsored by one of the main opposition political parties in its desperate and criminal plot to harvest APC members ahead of the 2019 general election.
“We have deliberately not named the political party and hereby call on relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the website and its sponsors.
“Meanwhile, we urge our teeming supporters and members to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Nationwide Membership Registration exercise in all 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“The exercise will include both fresh registrations and revalidation of existing membership for the purposes of issuance of the Party's permanent membership cards,” the statement added.

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
