Senator Uba condemns Plateau killing

(Nigeria) The Chairman, Senate committee on Interior, Senator Andy Uba, has condemned the killing of 86 persons in the attacks on about 11 communities in the Gashish District of Plateau State by suspected herdsmen.
The senator, who sympathised with the victims and the bereaved, said the attack on the communities in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday night was a disaster that is being felt by the entire country.
Many people were injured, 50 houses burnt, 15 motorcycles razed while two motor vehicles were torched in the incident.
As the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Undie Adie, has deployed more personnel in the district on a search and rescue team from the Command headquarters on Sunday, Uba is calling on the security personnel to ensure that no stone is left unturned in returning nomalcy to the communities and to bring the perpetrators to book.
The Senator who represents the Anambra South Senatorial District, described the incident as a dastardly act perpetrated by people who don't value the sanctity of life.
He, however, assured the state that the entire nation and beyond were with the people in this moment of grief.
He advised people of the state and other parts of the country to cultivate the habit of tolerance and peaceful coexistence irrespective of  tribal or religious differences.
