Edo University, Iyamho matriculates 350 students

(Nigeria) The matriculation of 350 students coincided with the Founder’s Day Celebration. The matriculation ritual for new student for the 2018/19 Academic Session took place at the Aliko Dangote Hall of the Edo University, Iyamho.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor said the new students should consider themselves lucky to have been admission urging them to abide by the spirit of the oath.
The Students gained admission into the University with Courses of their choice from the various Faculties which include: Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences; Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; Faculty of Clinical Medicine; Faculty of Engineering; Faculty of Law and Faculty of Science
Prof. Aluyor further implored the new students to remain committed to academic excellent adding that the University is information and communication technology-driven for students research and developing.
Also, at the Founder’s Day ceremony, the Hon. Minister for Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by Prof. Jacob Ehiorobo, who presented a paper titled “Restructuring the Nigeria Tertiary Education System to address the 21st Century funding challenges.”
While presenting his paper, he used the medium to advocate for partnership with both local and international organizations for proper funding and also encouraged new innovations in entrepreneurship for tertiary Institutions particularly Universities.
Prof. Jacob Ehiorobo, the Representative of the Hon. Minister for Education, commended the University Management Team for being the 3rd best University in Nigeria which was rated by the Nigeria University Commission, NUC.
He used the opportunity to call on Tertiary Education Tetfund, TET, to contribute to the developmental projects of the school.
Prof. Shaiubu A. Ibrahim, National President, Political Science Association of Nigeria and Chairman, Kogi State Local Government Commission, also presented a paper titled “The Political Engineering and Dynamics of Change – The Nigeria Experience,” where he emphasized the importance of engineering in developing Nigeria economy.
At the occasion, there also presentation of prizes to students for punctuality and University items. There also goodwill messages from Guests at the University Founder’s Day.
Edo University, Iyamho, also used the opportunity to unveil the school suit, lapel pin and presentation of plaques.
In his remarks, the University Visitor, Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki who was represented by his Deputy, Philip Shauibu pledged more support for the University from the State Government.
He also commended the School Management Team for their effective management of the Institution.
He advised students to be of good behaviour.
The high point of the Ceremony was the official commissioning of the Mass Communication Digital Television Studio by the Deputy Governor and other Guests.
