(Nigeria) A cleric and gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party, ANRP, Rev. Tunde Afe has frowned at what appears like a badly stage managed hostage situation with the Dapchi girls.
He said, “It is a known fact that behind the situation approach and possible back door channels reach to the insurgents with a view of saving the girls but such is not done with indiscretion as displayed by the Nigerian government.”
He wondered why insurgent led the release of the girls into the town when a third party could have brokered and received the girls at a neutral ground for processing.
According to him, “It was the manner and way by which the government handled the situation that has led to renewed suspicion of Nigerians. People now think there are fifth columnists in government bend on fanning the embers of discord. Where were our security forces in all of these?”
He however, rejoiced that the girls have found their ways back to their parents but insists a lot of things do not add up here, especially when the only Christian girl is still being held back because of her faith.
Afe who tasked security forces to ensure the safety of girls pursuing education, said “A situation where some band of thugs under the cover of darkness roam to kidnap girls and probably molest them in their deranged enterprise is a crime that must attract severe punishment.
“The federal government must as a matter of urgency, step up its efforts to uproot and end this insurgency.
“The time is overripe to end this and allow for peace to reign once again in the entire country for necessary development to take place,”he said.
