MASSOB carpets Army for declaring IPOB, others terrorist groups

(Nigeria)  Movement for the actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on Wednesday, condemned the declaration by the Nigerian Army that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as a terrorist group.
MASSOB in a statement by its National Director of Information, Mazi Samuel Edeson, said, its leadership under Mazi Uchenna Madu condemns the Nigerian Army for such an unguarded, careless, clueless, unintelligent and bias comment coming from a security organization that should know what operates in the International community.
“It is unfortunate that the Nigerian Army which should know what operates in the international community on those that should make such pronouncement and when a group should be characterized as such, but they chose to make such comment just to please a man and embarrassed the entire Nigerian Army and the Army in the world.
 “While we say a big sorry for the Nigerian Army for embarrassing its self due to overzealousness to impress Buhari, we are commending the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for their stand on the proscription of IPOB and others.”
“Wr are proud of Dr. Nnia Nwodo and his leadership style, their stand against injustice, intimidation and brutal killings of our Ndigbo is commendable. They have proven that they are our fathers and we are their children.
“No matter the differences between a father and son the father will not disown his son. The announcement made by Southeast Governors proscribing IPOB is unfortunate shameful, and disgraceful for a group our people should be looking up to but they have continued to goff in all their moves, we pity them”.
“IPOB and other a grieved groups regrets having them as governors of South east and must not accept their insult and constant unwarranted attacks, we must show the way out of these offices that has made them not interested in what affects their people.
“We will not blame them because their second tenure is more important to them more than our freedom, that is why they are playing a good boy in the hands our enemies, but we wish to remind them that cowards dies many times before his actual death.
"You cannot proscribe what you did not register, the legacy you left as Southeast Governors in your time will always speaks for you. The next generation will read about you. Mazi M.I.Okpara, Akanu Ibia are remembered by their people for their good legacy.
“For you our governors, what are you going to be remembered of, a Messiah for Ndigbo or  tyrants against Ndigbo,  remember that God the creator is the only one that can stop Biafra, You governors and your cannot stop Biafra. The Biafran struggle has gone beyond Nigeria.”

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
