Wike desribes late Chief Ezebalike as a pillar of PDP


Rivers State governor, Mr Nyesom Wike  (m), Mrs Charity Ezebalike  (l) Widow of the Late Chief Ezebalike and Mrs Sarah Ezebalike  (Widow of Ezebalike) during his condolence visit to the family of Late Chief Ezebalike on Tuesday at Ahoada East Local Government Area.

(Nigeria) Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has described the Late Chief J.O.S Ezebalike as a strong pillar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, whose wise counsel would  be  missed by the party.

Speaking  at Ahoada East Local Government Area on Tuesday during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, Governor Wike said that  he was shocked by the news of the demise  of the PDP Chieftain.
He said: "Ezebalike was one of the pillars of the PDP.  He was one of the leaders who stood by us in the early days  of the struggle.
"As an experienced politician, he gave us quality  advice  that helped us  tackle political challenges.”
He said that God has the ultimate  decision on the lifespan  of mortals, which cannot be questioned by anyone.
"As humans, his death is painful to  us. But as Christians, we have hope in God," he said.
He called for unity amongst the family members to be united as they bury the Late Chief Ezebalike, pointing  out  that  the State Government will participate in the burial of the party chieftain.
"He laboured for us.  Now that he is no more, let us work as a team to give  him a befitting burial," Governor Wike said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr Victor Ezebalike lauded Governor Wike  for identifying with the family  at their  momeht  of sorrow.
Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Ahoada East State Constituency, Ehie Edison said the people of the area will continue to support the administration. 
The state Leaders  who accompanied the governor to condolence visit include: former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, Chief Sergeant Awuse, former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo and former UBA Chairman, Chief Ferdinand Alabrabra.
