Boy, 19, arraigned over alleged rape


(Nigeria) Toheed Akinleye,19, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The accused, an apprentice who resides with his parents at Balogun Kuku Street, Alapere, a Lagos suburb is being tried for rape.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the offence was committed on December 8 at the accused residence.
Inuoha said that the victim, a 13-year-old girl was sent on an errand to the accused compound.
“The accused lured the girl to his room and raped her,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsami, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and  adjourned the case till April 6 for mention.
