Customs destroys N168m worth smuggled poultry products in Edo


(Nigeria) The Comptroller General of Customs Compliance Team has destroyed 21,000 cartons of imported frozen poultry products valued at N168 million in Benin, Edo State. 
A statement from the Commander of the CGC Compliance Team, Zone C, Mr Julius Odetunde, in Benin on Monday said that the imported frozen poultry products were conveyed in a truck with registration number KJA-242-XS.
It said that the items were seized by officers and men of CGC Compliance Team on Sunday around Old Benin Tollgate, Benin City.
“The items were destroyed at customs destruction site in compliance with the Federal Government's policy on importation of frozen products,” the statement said.
