APC leader task Gov Okowa on citizens' welfare

(Nigeria) A stalwart of the Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC,  Chiedu Onwuadiamu has admonished the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government in the state to make the welfare of Deltans and the provision of necessary infrastructure as critical priorities in impacting the lives of the masses, instead of chasing imaginary enemies.
Onwuadiamu spoke in a statement in Asaba, while reacting to a statement credited to Ifeanyi Osuoza, the Publicity Secretary of the Delta State PDP, in which he cast aspersions on a APC chieftain, Chief Hyacinth Enuha, who had earlier counselled the governor on the impropriety of denying workers their salaries for eight months as well as the dearth of infrastructure necessary for conducive existence.
He said, "I wish to reiterate the call made by our leader Enuha that the bulk of civil servants salaries remain unpaid in Delta State. We need not remind him that local government employees have been without salary for the past eight months.
"If the asphalting of Usonia Street and Cable Road in Asaba amount to massive infrastructural infrastructural development to Mr Osuoza and his PDP government in 16 months, then Deltans must brace up for hard times in the coming years before 2019."
Onwuadiamu noted that it smacks of irresponsibility for a state so richly blessed with human and material resources to wallow in poverty, poor infrastructural development, hunger and quagmire, adding that Mr. Osuoza and the Okowa administration were obviously oblivious of the massive infrastructure deficit plaguing Delta State , as has been made very manifest by the rains which have made Okpanam Road and other roads in Asaba unpassable as well as the decay in Warri, Sapele and Ugheli.
He advised the PDP government in the state to visit less endowed neighbours of Anambra, Edo and Rivers state and see what they have been able to do in terms of infrastructure, even with very limited resources.
He stated that it was an open secret that Anambra and Edo States have done better than Delta State in the payment of civil servants' salaries, in infrastructural development and indeed posses better development indices than its rich neighbour Delta State,  which boasts a monthly statutory federal allocation of N6 billion and of course a grossly under quoted N3 billion from internally generated revenue, due to the monumental corruption visited on the state treasury by past and present PDP governments in the state.
