Urhobo politicians warn detractors, hail Delta Speaker


(Nigeria) Notable politicians in Delta Central, have hailed the Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr Monday Igbuya, describing him as a man of honour, an achiever and a listening leader.
They praised him for focusing on major economic and social issues affecting the people.
The leaders also praised Igbuya for promoting good governance, legislative autonomy and strengthening committee structures to enhance the capacity of members.
The politicians who spoke in Ughelli applauded the cordial working relationship existing between the Legislative and Executive arms of government
 “Igbuya is a pride to Delta State and Nigeria. He is a shining example of honesty, simplicity and humility” they said.
In a statement on Monday, the Delta Central Politicians Forum, NCPF, an umbrella organisation of politicians from different political parties in the zone, commended Igbuya for building bridges of unity across ethnic and religious divides and giving purposeful leadership to the House of Assembly.  
The politicians, who are desirous of a prosperous and united Urhobo nation in a statement after an emergency meeting in Ughelli South, applauded Igbuya for his integrity and empowerment of the people in the state.
“Chief Igbuya is a brilliant strategist, an inspiring leader and a man of great political courage. He is humble, gentle and genial to the core. He is also honest, generous and selfless. He has taken principled positions on a wide range of state issues. His leadership style has earned him the gratitude and admiration of many while his conviction and willingness to speak out with a clear voice make him the best speaker in the history of the state” the group said.
The politicians signed by NCPF Spokesperson, Chief Oma Ojighoro, thanked the Speaker for playing great roles in the development of the state.
“Mr. Speaker is doing a lot to encourage us,” they said.
The group while eulogizing Igbuya for being above board in the discharge of his duties advised him to disregard the antics of some politicians in the state and concentrate on his legislative jobs.
“Mr. Speaker is upholding the tenets of good governance,” the statement added.
