GTB to close early on Thursday

(Nigeria) GTbank will close early on Thursday, June 30, 2016 to allow it conclude its half year audit exercise.
The bank in an online message to customers, said “Please be informed that our branches will close early on Thursday, June 30, 2016 to enable us complete our half year audit exercise.
"Our Lagos branches will close at 3p.m., and our branches outside Lagos will close at 2p.m., on this day.
“We encourage you to take advantage of our alternative channels which allows you check your account balance, transfer funds, pay bills, purchase airtime and manage your accounts 24/7: Bank 737 : Dial *737# on your mobile phone to perform banking functions such as Funds Transfer, BVN linking, Airtime recharge, Secure Pin Generation, Account Opening, Bills payment etc.”
The message also encouraged customers to reach the bank via our 24 hour Contact centre; GTConnect, as well as the following channels: Email; complaints@gtbank.com, Facebook; www.facebook.com/gtbank, Twitter; www.twitter.com/gtbank, Google+; www.google.com/+gtbank, BBM Channel; C004389F2.

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
