Ayade promises to make Cross River Africa's industrial hub

Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade (left) his Deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, immediate past governor of Criss River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr John Gaul Lebo and the state Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, during the 17th Democracy Anniversary thanksgiving service at the St Bernards Cathedral, Marian Hill, Calabar.
 
(Nigeria) Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade, has said that his administration was determined to make the state a construction hub in Africa.

Ayade in his Democracy Day broadcast said, he has already done diligent planning to bring the plan to fruition.
"We are fully reloaded to make Cross River State the construction hub for Africa. It is indeed difficult at this point in time to hope perhaps that magic would be done.
"But with sincere commitment with the love and fear of God with all your support, Cross River State indeed shall move from 3rd world to 1stworld under my watch," he stated.
He pledged that his administration would move "Cross River beyond the boundaries of hope and jobs to the horizons and frontiers of content, bliss and happiness."
"One year into our administration today, we can assure you that victory, prosperity, success and an end to poverty and unemployment is assured. As sharp hunters we won't miss our mark. As custodians of your collective trust, we would keep our promise."

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
