Security agencies abandoned security council decision, says Wike

State Governor, Nyesom Wike has stated that
some of the security
agencies deviated from decisions
reached during the State Security Council on the deployment of personnel to
security flaspoints to secure lives and
property in the course of the
rerun elections.
Addressing
traditional rulers from the 23
Local Government Areas on Wednesday at the Government House, Port Harcourt,
Governor Wike said, none of the
strategies that were collectively mapped
out was implemented.
He said that the state government on its own furnished all the security agencies
with the required support to
carry out their security
responsibilities before, during
and after the elections.
The governor
said that he invited the
traditional rulers because of the need
for them to get first hand information
on efforts by the state government
to ensure security for all the
people of the state.
He said: "Before the elections, I wrote
to Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC National Chairman on
the challenges that would affect the
elections and that they could cause crisis.
I wrote to them on the compromised list of Adhoc staff that favoured a
particular political party. INEC failed
to acts on our concerns."
He reiterated that the people of the
state will at no time allow the
rigging of elections under any guise.
In his response, Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional
Rulers Council, High Royal Majesty, the Amayanabo of Opobo, Dandeson Jaja
thanked the governor for carrying the traditional rulers along.
Also speaking, the
Amayanabo of Abonnema, High Royal Majesty Bob-Manuel Robinson said, that
contrary to news reports, the slain
soldiers were not killed near Abonnema.
