Court remands trader for allegedly rape of minor

(Nigeria) A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting in No man’s land on Wednesday remanded a 23-year-old trader, Mahmoud Usaini, in custody for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Usaini was docked on a charge of rape.
The Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, ordered the remanded of the accused in prison custody after he pleaded not guilty.
Adamu adjourned the matter till May 31 for further mention.
The prosecutor, Mr Sale Muhammad, told the court that Ahmed Abdulaziz of Darmanawa Quarters, Tarauni Local Government Area, Kano, reported the matter to Filin Hockey Police Division, Kano, on March 21.
Muhammad said that on March 18 at 2p.m., Usaini lured Abdulaziz’s 13-year-old daughter and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her under an abandoned tipper truck.
He said the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
