Scores killed in Yola police post blast

(Nigeria) An explosion in Yola on Thursday rocked the Anti-Bomb squad of the Adamawa State Police Command, claiming the lives of scores of people, while many were injured.
The complex, where the blast occurred is also been occupied by the Jimeta Divisional Police station, the state investigation Bureau SIB and the central motor Traffic Division, MTD of the state police command among other arms of the police.
Neighbouring areas such as  clerk quarters, the Jimeta Central Primary School, headquarters of NITEL, Post office as well as the Jimeta Central Prison were all shaken by the blast, while some of the buildings had their structures cracked and tumbled.
Meanwhile security agencies are trying to unravel the reasons behind the explosion, the incident might likely be caused by "accidental discharge" within the security facility.
A security source said, “The explosion is likely caused by accidental discharge due to mishandling of explosive devises by security personnel within the police station.
"For now we are not suspecting terrorism for the explosion as the security agencies are currently investigating the remote cause of the incident."
