Man remanded in prison custody for alleged rape of minor

(Nigeria) An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Wednesday remanded a 27-year-old man, Dare Lateef, in prison for allegedly raping a minor.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of raping an eight-year-old girl (names withheld).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.  Adelaja, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 11 at 11.00 p.m., in Konifesi area of Ota.
``The accused took the eight-year-old girl to an uncompleted building and raped her.’’
The offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate adjourned the case to March 4 for mention.
