Lavrov, Kerry agree additional parameters for ceasefire in Syria
As the conflict in Syria continues to take its toll on the
people and infrastructure, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and United
States Secretary of State John Kerry have agreed additional parameters of
ceasefire in that country, the Russian foreign ministry said on Sunday after a
telephone conversation between the two top diplomats.
"Two more telephone conversations between Russian
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry were held
in the evening on February 21," the ministry said, reports Tass.
"The sides agreed additional parameters for the
ceasefire regime in Syria. The results of the conversations are being reported
to Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Barack Obama of the United
States."
It was the third telephone conversation between the two
countries’ top diplomats on Sunday and the fourth one in the past two days.
Earlier on Sunday, Lavrov and Kerry "continued
discussing modality and terms for stopping military actions in Syria, with the
exception for the operation against organisations, which the UN Security
Council has confirmed as terrorist organizations," the Russian foreign
ministry said.
