We need strong institution to fight corruption ----Gov Emmanuel

(Nigeria) Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State on Monday called for the establishment of strong institutional structures to ensure the success of the fight against corruption.
The governor stated this while fielding questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to him, all the 36 governors of the federation have resolved to wage war against corruption in their various states, saying that all hands must be on deck in the fight against corrupt practices.
“Corruption is not in terms of the magnitude. It is core value system that really needs to be analysed and actually see if we can get rid of it out of the fabric of our own society. We strongly support the fight against corruption. All the governors in Nigeria are waging the same war in their different domains, and trying to set up structures, trying to see how we can minimise, at least, if not possible to deal with it overnight to eliminate them.
“But at least we must deal with corruption even to the barest minimum, that is totally insignificant in the system and I think, that is where we are heading to. On the outcome of his meeting with the president, the governor revealed that he had a fruitful economic discussion with President Buhari, and also briefed him on the happenings in Akwa Ibom.
“Specifically, I came here today because there are some investments opportunities that we have to discuss, so I had to brief the president on these opportunities. It was purely a business meeting,’’ he said.
