Man, 32 charged to court for alleged rape

(Nigeria) A 32-year-old applicant, Victor Pomak, on Thursday appeared in an Abuja High Court, Jabi, Abuja, for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman at Nyanya.
Pomak, who resides at Nyanya, was arraigned on a two-count charge of rape and theft of the complainant’s phone and other valuables.
The accused committed the offence on December 4, 2015 at the resident of the complainant.
Prosecuting counsel, Simeon Lough told the court that the accused was arrested few days after he committed the crime by an officer of the Abuja Police Command.
Lough said the offence contravened Section 282 of the Penal Code and Section 1(1) of the Robbery Special Provision Act and the accused pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Justice Oathman Musa, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N150,000 with a surety in like sum.
Musa ordered that the surety must reside within the Abuja and the his residence must be verified and shown to the prosecutor.
He adjourned the matter till February 4 for hearing
