Stop wasting Ekiti money on frivolous adverts, group tells Fayose
(Nigeria) Ekiti Youth Vanguard, a social-political group in Ekiti
State, the has criticised Governor Ayodele Fayose over the way he has been
wasting the state's resources on frivolous advertisements to criticise
President Muhammadu Buhari and allegedly create
doomsday predictions to inflict fears in the minds of Nigeria.
A statement by the Coordinator of the group, Charles
Fakunle, frowned at the manner Fayose spent the state money on issues that
added no value to their lives, saying the governor was daily embarrassing
decent indigenes of the state over his distasteful public conduct.
"This is a governor who toured the 16 local governments
of the state lying to workers that there is no money and blaming Buhari for
this after he has refused to pay them from the bailout he received from the
same President he abuses.
"We hope Ekiti workers will have the courage to ask the
governor what he has done with the over N9 billion bailout fund he received
from the Federal government for the payment of their outstanding salaries and
allowances. They should also ask him of what benefit to them is the abusive
advertorials he regularly sponsored in the dailies to abuse the President.
"Fayose recently sponsored a ridiculous advertorial
prophesying doom for Nigerians. We want to let Fayose know that the country
will make progress under President Buhari next year while his doomsday
prediction will only be experienced by him because he made the false prediction
as a result of his sins."
Fakunle said the governor was the greatest con artist that
ever lived, noting that he was deliberately getting himself involved in stunts
to get the sympathy of Nigerians "when he faces his comeuppance but he has
missed it.
"He has set a record in Nigeria as the first governor
to start a hate campaign against an opponent. This he did in March 2008 when he
advertised that Gen. Buhari would die in office and therefore urged voters not
vote for him.
"He followed this up by several advertorials even after
the election, wasting millions of state resources, and also became the first
governor in Nigeria to abuse a sitting President and has refused to attend
National Economic Council meetings and other national functions," he said.
Fakunle accused the governor of increasing his personal
security vote to N300m monthly after deceiving workers that the state was broke
while he just acquired a white state-of -the -art Range Rover in addition to
the one he acquired at N43 million a little over a year ago.
"Yet, this is a governor who accused his colleagues of
extravagant spending and a governor who lies to workers that the state has no
money empowered his own children abroad where they live like kings riding
exotic cars costing between N35 and N40 million," he said.
He urged Ekiti workers to wake up from their slumber and
take Fayose to task about the finances of the state and stop listening to his
tales that had "no head or tale.
"Fayose has no reason to owe Ekiti workers after
collecting the over N9 billion bailout fund meant to pay all arrears of
salaries, pensions and allowances of former political office holders. Fayose is
yet to account for the fund which he is alleged to have misappropriated as the
categories of workers who were supposed to have been paid with the fund
have not been paid," he said.
