Abductors of Bayelsa commissioner demand N40m ransom

(Nigeria) The abductors of the Commissioner for Local Government in Bayelsa State, Mrs Serefina Otazi, have demanded N40 million as ransom for her release, according to a family member.
Mr Endurance Frank said in Yenagoa on Tuesday that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded the ransom to free their victim.
He said that the family was relieved to hear from Otazi in her kidnappers’ den.
Frank appealed to the kidnappers to free her unconditionally.
Otazi was abducted on December 20 at a gun point in Otuoke on her way to Ewoi community in Ogbia Local Government Area for a funeral.
She had served as a commissioner for women affairs and acting chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
