Okowa seeks approval for N3bn agric loans

(Nigeria) Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on Thursday sought permission of the State House of Assembly to obtain N3billion commercial agriculture loan from the Zenith Bank Plc.
The request is contained in a letter presented during the proceedings of the State House of Assembly by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro on behalf of the governor.
The letter, which was read by the Speaker of the House, Mr Monday Igbuya, stated that the request came from Governor , Okowa who was on an official visit to the United States.
The letter also stated that the request, when granted, would help to enhance value chain across the production, storage and marketing of farm produce of the state.
It explained that agriculture remained a cardinal goal of the present administration of the state.
The request, which was unanimously adopted by the House, was presented through a motion by the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Tim Owhefere.
The motion was seconded by Mr Reuben Izeze (Ughelli South).
