Stop your false allegations against Wike, Rivers govt tells APC

(Nigeria) The Rivers State Government has called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state to ends its campaign of calumny and false allegations  against Governor Nyesom Wike of the state.
Mr Simeon  Nwakaudu, Special Assistant ( Media ) to the Rivers State Governor in a statement in Port Harcourt on Sunday, said "Our attention  has been  drawn to  yet another  ill-mannered statement  from the  office  of  the Rivers  State  APC Chairman,  Mr Davies Ikanya  wherein  he made the usual outlandish  and spurious  allegations  of the  party against  the  person  of Governor Wike. It is high time Mr Ikanya  stopped this show of shame.
"His deliberate attempt  to distract the administration  through the use of fabricated tales and indecent commentaries that show total disrespect  to the Government  and people  of Rivers  State  is unfortunate.
"This recycled  statement  today by Mr Ikanya is further prove that he is the mouthpiece  of a desperate  clan that viciously  damaged  Rivers  State,  but are only comfortable  using propaganda  to divert attention  from their unfortunate  and disastrous  reign.
"The immediate  past  administration  of  Rotimi  Amaechi  destroyed  all the institutions  of governance  in Rivers  State,  especially  the Judiciary  which led to the growth of insecurity  in the state.
"The same failed administration,  in which Mr Ikanya  was a principal  ugly actor ensured that the Police and other security  agencies  were not supported  by  the  state government  through  additional  funding  and logistics,  hence they were unable  to  respond to security challenges  during the disastrous  reign of Amaechi.
"It was under the failed Rivers  State  APC  administration  that known cultists  were released  from detention  for political  reasons a few days to the general  elections. Nigerians  heard the Rivers  State  PDP  raise alarm when the former  failed governor  took that action.
"Since May 29, Governor Wike  has  taken very proactive  measures  to  improve  security  in the  state and address  the security  challenges  deliberately  created by the failed Amaechi  administration.
"He has  restored the Judiciary to ensure the dispensation  of justice  and  in liaison  with  the  State House of  Assembly  enacted  the  Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism to deal with  obvious  challenges  inherited  from the Rivers  State  APC. He has improved  funding  for  the  security  agencies and equipped them with 64 Hilux vans to improve  their response  to  security  challenges.  Today,  the state is better secured with further steps taken to improve  the  security  situation.
"Mr Ikanya  cannot continue  to rehash  same lies all over again.  They were at the the Tribunal,  tendered the same concocted photographs which were rejected. They failed to call any witnesses to prove that their members suffered any violence and they had no case other than the tales by four misguided  gossips who pretended to be soldiers and policemen.
"The game is up for the Rivers  State  APC.  These lies are no longer effective and it is time that Mr Ikanya  sought another means of livelihood.
"Rivers people  overwhelmingly  voted for Governor  Wike  as their leader till May 28, 2019. Displaced politicians  like Ikanya  and his sponsors must accept this fact.
"Rivers State  is a Federating  Unit in Nigeria  with  Wike  as her governor. Mr Ikanya and his sponsors must be told that Governor  Wike is the Chief Executive  and his actions  are driven by the need to promote  the  interest of the people  of  the  state."
