A leader of the Jundullah militant group in Afghanistan's Kunduz province was killed in a United States drone strike, the national intelligence agency said Tuesday.
The Jundullah group is a branch of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan in Afghanistan, reports dpa.
"Ghulam Hazrat, who was famous as Abu Hudaifa, along with his deputy commander and three soldiers were killed in a drone strike in Chahar Dara district [in Kunduz] on Monday evening," the National Directorate of Security said.
Abdul Wadood Wahedi, the governor's spokesman for Kunduz province, said that Abu Hudaifa was a prominent terrorist leader of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and was leading the fight against Afghan and coalition forces in the province.
Chahar Dara district has been a stronghold for Taliban fighters in the past few years, especially for its Uzbek and Chechen fighters.
