Taliban captures Afghan district, kills 25 troops

Taliban insurgents took control of another district in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing 25 soldiers and policemen, a local official said.
The guerrillas seized most of the Musa Qala district of Helmand province after a week of fighting, said Razia Baloch, a member of the provincial council, reports dpa.
Another 15 security personnel were injured, she said.
"The district police chief is among those wounded," she added. "More than 50 soldiers are missing."
Musa Qala is the province's second district to fall into Taliban hands in the past two weeks, after the neighboring district of Nawzad.
Taliban sources confirmed they had established control of Musa Qala.
Also Wednesday, two foreign North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO, soldiers were killed when two people wearing Afghan security forces uniforms opened fire at their vehicle, the military alliance said.
"Service members returned fire and killed the shooters," at an Afghan army compound in Helmand, the military alliance said in a statement.
The identities of the foreign military personnel and Afghans killed were not released.
