Cholera claims 20 lives in Bauchi

(Nigeria) Twenty persons have died of cholera in the Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
In a statement by the Information Officer of the council, Malam Danlami Baza, in Bauchi on Saturday, said that 200 persons were admitted in the hospital.
It added that the Acting Chairman of the conluncil, Alhaji Usman Mashema, called on the public to come out for treatment as soon as they noticed any sign of cholera.
The statement appealed to the Federal and State Governments as well as donor agencies to come to the aid of those affected.
It added that the affected communities included Bakul, Dunmagari and Gallari, among others.
