Boko Haram kills 58 in Borno village

(Nigeria) No fewer than 68 people were killed while several others were injured when members of Boko Haram terrorists group invaded Baanu  Village in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State, weekend.
It was gathered from some of the residents, who fled to Maiduguri that the insurgents who came on horses at 8:30 p.m., on Friday started shooting sporadically, killing anyone they came across.
One of the residents, said “We fled into the bush and hid and after they left, we return back to pick some of our belongings. I counted 68 corpses. Some were slaughtered while others had gunshot wounds. The number of those killed is worrisome as the corpses were littered across the streets of the village.”
The resident added that the government has to do something fast if not, Boko Haram  will continue to wreck havoc on innocent citizens, as the surrounding villages, which are five killometres away from Gajiram, the headquarters of Nganzai had been taken over by the insurgents, while most residents have fled.
The Borno state governor, Mr Kashim Shettima, who visited Baanu village and addressed the parents of the abducted Chibok girls, said the insurgents killed 56 persons in Nganzai village.
"The Boko Haram crisis is a calamity that befall us, as the insurgents do not discriminate weather somebody is Christian or Muslim nor tribal affiliations. Just, yesterday, they killed 56 people in Baanu village of Nganzai council, as I am speaking to you, their corpses are still littered on the street of the village," Shettima lamented.
