Police arrest 2 suspected cultists in Enugu

(Nigeria) The Enugu State Police Command said on Tuesday that it had arrested two suspected cultists.
The suspects, who were said to be members of a cult group, Vikings, were arrested at the Maryland Boys Secondary School in Enugu.
A statement issued by the police spokesman in the state, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said one of the suspects was a 24-year-old mason who hailed from Aguabosi Ugwuoba in Oji River Local Government Area.
The statement quoted the suspect as saying that he joined the cult group while in secondary school in 2012 in Port Harcourt.
The second suspect, a 22-year-old, who hailed from Uburu in Ebonyi, was said to have joined the JVC cult in 2008 when he was in Junior Secondary School.
The statement said that items recovered from him included a single barrel gun with one cartridge while investigations into the incident had commenced.
Similarly, the police said it had on July 16 arrested another suspect for being in possession of a locally made revolver with two rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
The statement quoted the suspect as saying that a yet to be arrested accomplice asked him to procure the gun for him for use during a community festival.
