Malaysia to explore other ways to 'obtain justice' over MH17

Malaysia would explore other ways to obtain justice over the downing of Malaysia Airlines MH17, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday, after Russia vetoed its proposal to establish a United Nations tribunal to try those responsible for shooting the aircraft.
"A veto today does not mean there will be impunity for MH17," the ministry said, reports dpa.
"We will consider and explore other viable options and prosecuting mechanisms."
Flight MH17 was on the way to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam with 298 people aboard when it was shot down by a missile while passing over the strife-torn eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.
Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai Wednesday introduced a resolution at the UN Security Council calling for the establishment of an international criminal tribunal.
The resolution, which was supported by the Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ukraine,  obtained 11 votes from the members of the UN Security Council, but was vetoed by Russia.
