Kiev warns against Italian, Hungarian deputies visit Crimea
Kiev government will definitely come up with a reaction if
Italian and Hungarian parliament members visit Crimea, the press secretary of
the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Maryana Betsa, told a news briefing on
Wednesday.
If the visit does take place, "the reaction to it and
the consequences will be guaranteed," Betsa said, reports Tass.
Manlio di Stefano, a member of the foreign policy committee
at the Italian parliament's Chamber of Deputies told Kommersant Daily earlier
the deputies had decided to make a visit to Crimea.
"We've decided to go to Crimea and to Moscow along with
members of a delegation of the Cinque Stelle (Five Star) Movement," he
said."
"I'm going to contact the Russian embassy in Rome so as
to get down to preparing the visit," Di Stefano said.
The delegation plans to arrive in Crimea via Russia and the
objective of the tour will be to find out how people in Crimea are faring after
the March 2014 referendum, which led to Crimea's reunification with Russia.
Readiness to join the deputies on their trip to Russia has been expressed by
Senator Gergio Divina, who represents Lega Nord political party.
Kommersant also said the head of the foreign affairs
committee at the Hungarian parliament, Marton Gyongyosi had made public his
readiness to go to Crimea.
Last week, the peninsular region and the federal city of
Sevastopol located on its territory were visited by French deputies. Their
trip, too, provoked an irritated reaction from Kiev.
