7 perish in Cross River auto crash
(Nigeria) The Federal Road Safety
Commission, FRSC, has confirmed the death of seven persons in a ghastly motor
accident involving a truck and a transport bus belonging to Calculux Company.
The accident
occurred at New-Netim community near Odukpani local government area of Cross
River State on July 29.
Addressing news men on the incident, Mr Lawrence Ikechukwu,
Cross River Sector Commander of the FRSC, said the bus with 14 passengers was
heading to Port Harcourt from Calabar.
``The 14-seater bus belonging to Calculux Company with
registration number LSR-813xS (Lagos), was heading to Port Harcourt from
Calabar and it was carrying 14 passengers including the driver. The bus driver was on the right hand side of the road and
the truck driver was over taking dangerously and carelessly.
``From every indication, the driver of the truck is at fault
because he was over-taking dangerously and he lost control,’’ he said.
``We are working with the police to arrest the driver of the
truck; we will get him and he will face the law. We have the manifest of the bus with us and we are working
hard to contact the loved ones of those that lost their lives,’’he said.
