Afghanistan police said on Monday that no fewer than 20 people were killed and 10 others wounded when a gunfight broke out at a wedding ceremony in northern part of the country.
The provincial police spokesman, Javid Basharat, said the shooting involved two groups attending the wedding in Deh Salah District late on Sunday, reports dpa.
``Most of the victims were wedding guests. The reason behind the gunfight was old enmity between the two families,’’ he said.
Local people have, in recent times, expressed concerns over the possession of illegal weapons in the province.
