Man arraigned for defiling neighbour's 13yrs old daughter

(Nigeria) A 37-year-old man, Obiorah Ozo, was on Tuesday charged before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defiling his neighbour's 13-year-old daughter.
The accused, who resides at No.1, Ogungbesan St., Coker, Orile, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of defilement and assault.
The prosecutor, Mr Godwin Anyanwu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 19 at the same address.
He said that the accused had met the 13-year-old on the staircase, covered her mouth with his hands and dragged her to a shared bathroom.
Anyanwu explained that in an attempt to have forceful sexual intercourse with the 13-year-old girl, the accused hit her head to the wall and locked her in the bathroom, where she was found.
The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate A.O. Isholadoye, granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till August 10 for mention.
