Israel, Palestine committed war crimes in Gaza war ----UN

Israeli armed forces and Palestinian militants attacked civilians indiscriminately during their conflict last year, which may constitute war crimes on both sides, a United Nations, UN inquiry commission said on Monday.
In their report to the UN Human Rights Council, the commission's experts criticized Israel for continuing its attacks in the Gaza Strip even after it had become apparent that its tactics were taking a heavy toll on civilians.
This raises the question of whether Israeli political and military leaders violated international humanitarian law that governs the conduct of war, the report said.
The commission did not make definite pronouncements on whether crimes were committed, leaving such judgements to courts or other legal mechanisms.
Palestinian militants had used unguided rockets to sow fear and terror among Israelis, also in violation of humanitarian law, the report said.
It counted 2,251 Palestinians killed, as well as six dead Israeli civilians and 67 dead Israeli soldiers during the conflict last summer.
"The commission was able to gather substantial information pointing to serious violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law by Israel and by Palestinian armed groups. In some cases, these violations may amount to war crimes," the report said.
