Buhari orders removal of military check-point nationwide

(Nigeria) President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the removal of all military check points across the country.

Addressing reporters in Abuja on Monday, after a meeting between President Buhariand service chiefs, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Alhaji Ismail Aliyu, said Buhari had directed the security chiefs to liaise with the authority of the Nigeria Police Force to finalise arrangement for police to effectively take over internal security.
According to Aliyu, the meeting with the security chiefs was gave them the opportunity to brief the President on the implementations of recent decisions reached on the fight against insurgency.

He added that the military high command briefed President Buhari on the relocation of the command centre to ‎Maiduguri, Borno State as directed by the president on the day of his inauguration.
