Police rescue 10 kidnap victims in Ekiti
(Nigeria) The police have rescued 10 persons kidnapped in Ekiti State by gunmen.
Force Police Spokesperson, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said "The special operation ordered by the Inspector General of Police, IG, Mr Solomon Arase, has this morning successfully rescued 19 persons from the hands of kidnappers in Ekiti State. The victims are being debriefed and receiving medical attention.
"Some kidnappers have been arrested and the operation is ongoing. It will be recalled that the IG this week dispatched a crack team of operatives to the State to stem the rising tide of kidnapping.
"The Police remain responsive and shall continue to apply proactive and prompt response measures to issues of crime nationwide, " the statement added.
