Ondo deputy gov, Olunusi impeached

(Nigeria) Ondo State deputy governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has been impeached.
He was impeached on Monday by the state House of Assembly.
Even though the lawmakers had accused him on gross misconduct, it is believed that his decamping to the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is the party the state governor and majority of the Assembly members belong to was the major reason he was impeached.
Olunusi had earlier on Monday, sought to stop his impeachment, as he filed a motion ex parte at the Federal High Court, Akure, praying the court to stop the Ondo State House of Assembly from impeaching him as the deputy governor.
In the suit No FHC/AK/CS/50/2015 between Olukoya Ogungbeje, and Ondo State House of Assembly, filed Before Justice Isaq Sani, Ogungbeje had urge the court to rule that committee who sat and recommended the impeachment of the deputy governor within three days from Tuesday to Friday was a kangaroo committee.
According to Ogungbeje, there has been a great constitutional infraction by the members of House of Assembly.
While referring to the case of Alh Danladi Vs Taraba State House of Assembly, Ogungbeje argued that the committee had 30 days to sit but chose to sit within three days.
The judge had stood down the matter till 10:30a.m., for ruling. When the court reconvened for its ruling, it refused the prayer to stop the House of Assembly on impeachment and orders the applicant to put the respondents on notice of the suit and adjourned till May 7, 2015 for further hearing in the suit.
